The Clinic for Special Children was established in 1989 as a non-profit medical service for Amish and Mennonite children with genetic disorders.
It has received world-wide recognition for its research into genetic diseases which benefits not only the local Lancaster community but translates into diagnoses and treatment for all those who suffer from inherited diseases.
Dr. Morton has received numerous awards in recognition of his work including the Albert Schweitzer prize for humanitarianism, the John D. and Catherine T MacCarther Foundation Genius award as well as being named Time Magazine’s Hero of Medicine in 1997.
We thank Dr. Morton and his staff at the Clinic for their unending dedication to identifying and treating these devastating genetic diseases and for their love and compassion towards the children and families of our community! |
